Masters of Landscape Architecture - Final Year Project

JUST ADD WATER

Transformation through Topography (Making the Invisible, Visible)

RESEARCH QUESTION:
To explore how the landscape could work; how it would function socially, hydrologically and environmentally, when dry or inundated.
Imagine a lush, green environment where animal (terrestrial/aquatic) life and people co-exist, where there is no separation. Where the landscape decides what the program / activity there will be and, when it should occur. As you watch, the landscape functions and transforms into system and not just recreational space. Yet, we have not witnessed this. We have only witness the increase of urbanization and how it has had a negative impact on the environment.
It’s important in this expanding city to discover how problems such as cleaning water can be solved using technical facilities whilst providing opportunities for a variety of public use, vegetation and wildlife.
